Portraits are an intimate experience between a subject and a photographer. A shared moment in time. There needs to be trust in both directions for the photo to portray the person both physically and emotionally. For me, it is the most exciting form of photography that I’ve discovered so far, and at times, also the most intimidating. Sometimes it’s a quick, “Can I take your photo?” and other times its a shared experience of thought and process.
